Helen Beardmore joined the Edge Foundation having spent 25 years working in the education sector. Helen has had a varied career, firstly, teaching geography and Business Studies in secondary schools before joining the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. Helen oversaw the growth of the Business and Enterprise Colleges from 60 to 260 specialist schools across England, she also took the opportunity as a life long learner to complete an MBA part-time with the OU.
Helen has always excelled at curriculum development throughout her career. This was recognised as she was appointed a Lead Practitioner for both the SSAT and Nottinghamshire County Council developing and sharing Business and Leisure and Tourism teaching resources. More recently as Head of Education at the Peter Jones Foundation she oversaw delivery of the Tycoon in Schools competition alongside the Peter Jones FE Enterprise Academies, working with, and supporting Pearson in the development of the L3 BTEC in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.
At the Edge Foundation Helen has built upon this solid and varied curriculum expertise and utilises her experience in the classroom to good effect. Most recently she has worked on codifying Project Based Learning, her focus is on making it accessible and understandable for teachers.
Helen lives in Sheffield with her Tibetan Terrier, Esker, and enjoys taking long walks in the Yorkshire Peak District.
