The government has announced that “more students will be able to access T Level industry placements thanks to reforms designed to cut red tape and boost the number taking them. This will further expand opportunities," they said, "ensuring even more learners gain the skills needed to support this government’s priorities of growing the economy and reduce the country’s reliance on migrant labour to plug skills gaps. In line with industry trends and real-life hybrid working practices most students will now be able to complete up to 20% of their placement hours remotely, rather than having to do them from a physical workplace, with the allowance increased to 50% for Digital T Levels.” Read the announcement in full: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/t-level-placements-reformed-to-open-up-new-qualification
Alice Gardner, Chief Executive, Edge Foundation said, "Edge research highlights that T Level industry placements are a major draw, offering valuable real-world experience and a competitive edge for students. As T Level numbers grow, colleges face challenges in securing sufficient, high-quality placements. The Government’s move to allow flexible, hybrid placements is a step forward, potentially opening more opportunities with employers. However, it’s not a universal solution. Mentoring and real-life experience remain crucial, and safeguards are needed to ensure more flexible placements offer meaningful, supported workplace exposure aligned with students' studies."
