During the Autumn of 2021, Edge are running three CPD sessions focused on different aspects of Further Education in England.
The first in the series draws on our longstanding work on thephilosophy and principles of vocational education. Chaired by Professor Chris Winch and Professor Kevin Orr, it features an expert panel including Hermann Nehls, Professor Ann-Marie Bathmaker, Professor Prue Huddleston and Norman Crowther.
The second in the series looked at the history of vocational education, building on our work on learning from the past and featured insight from Professor Ewart Keep, Professor Lorna Unwin, Professor Prue Huddleston and Tom Richmond.
The third and final session of the series reflected on current Further Education policy in England, including the Government’s recent Skills for Jobs White Paper.
The session featured input from Keith Smith (Director for Post-16 Strategy, Department for Education), Harry Leech (Head of Skills, HM Treasury, David Russell (CEO of the Education and Training Foundation), Beth Chaudhary (Strategy Director at Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education) and Frank Quinn (Head of Standards and Frameworks, Skills Development Scotland).
