In Autumn 2022, between September and November, the Edge Foundation and Skills Development Scotland collaborated to deliver a series of interactive workshops exploring the Future of Apprenticeships in Scotland.
The series was made up of three workshops which brought together employers, learning providers, government representatives, learners and policymakers from across the four nations to discuss current and future trends, as well as innovations across the apprenticeships landscape in the UK.
The workshops were delivered remotely, allowing participants to come together and engage in an additive series where each workshop built on the discussions and outputs from the session before. The key areas of exploration for each workshop were:
Workshop 1 (14th September): Trends most likely to impact on different aspects of the skills system
Workshop 2 (12th October): Principles of an effective apprenticeship system
Workshop 3 (15th November): Areas for alignment between the four nations and common design principles for future apprenticeship design and development
