The Studio Schools Trust were awarded a grant of £70k to research the impact of the CREATE Framework used in Studio School.
Baysgarth School is a local authority maintained comprehensive school in North Lincolnshire. They received £35,000 from the Post Covid-19 Revival Fund to further develop their curriculum around the North Lincolnshire Employability Skills Framework.
Baysgarth School are committed to developing remote and blended learning systems. Homework has been replaced by online Flipped Learning and they have developed a framework of Expert Learner Skills designed to make students independent and ambitious learners. Additionally, the introduction of Inspire Time allows students to develop their skills and interests, work experience or college placements within the school day. The aim of Inspire time is for every Key Stage 4 student to have a work experience or volunteering opportunity in the local community on a fortnightly basis.
They will also be able to recruit an employability mentor to develop Inspire Time and build relationships with local employers. The school is planning to work both with local employers and colleges to give their students a recognised accreditation in employability skills. Lastly a training programme will be developed to support all school staff to ensure that remote learning is a central part of the curriculum.
Richard Briggs, Head Teacher, Baysgarth School“Baysgarth School is proud to have been chosen as one of the five successful bidders from more than 600 applications for the Edge Foundation's post-Covid 19 Revival Fund. We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Edge Foundation and will strive to develop our students’ key employability skills that will guarantee success in an ever-changing world where many of the jobs they will be competing for don't exist yet. We hope that other schools will be able to learn from our experiences and that as a result we can work together to build a world class workforce.”
