This project aims to help teachers to deliver lessons for English Language GCSE through the topic of apprenticeships. It is based around the non-fiction paper which explores writers’ viewpoints and perspectives.
The project allows students to explore a variety of non-fiction texts from the 19th and 21st centuries and develop skills necessary for the exam whilst gaining an understanding of real-life apprenticeship opportunities in their local area. The choice of non-fiction texts then feed into the persuasive writing task, based around the key issue of apprenticeships versus university.
There is an opportunity at the end of the project to practise speaking and listening skills in giving a public presentation about the key question from their persuasive writing activity.
